Travelers from East African Community (EAC) Countries

Tanzania is a member of the East African Community (EAC), which includes Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia. Citizens of these countries benefit from simplified entry:

  • Entry Documents: A valid passport is required (national IDs are not accepted for entry into Tanzania).

  • Visa-Free Entry: No visa is needed for tourism, business, or short stays.

Travelers from Non-EAC Countries

Visitors from outside the EAC must meet the following requirements:

  • Passport Requirement: A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Visa or Electronic Visa (eVisa): Most travelers require a visa, available online through Tanzania’s official eVisa system or upon arrival at major entry points.

  • Single-Entry Visa: Valid up to 90 days, USD 50.
